Cracking nuts and eating them raw appears to improve health and longevity in women, according to a study reported in the British Medical Journal. Women who ate more than 5 ounces (about 7 tablespoons) of nuts of all kinds per week had a 35 percent lower risk of coronary heart disease than women who ate less than 1 ounce per month. It sounds like good news, and it is, but there are a few aspects that need clarification…

But the oh-so-innocent J&J is also the parent company for Janssen Pharmaceuticals–makers of the drug Risperdal, which could, thanks to some prescription-happy pediatricians, quite literally be dooming thousands of children to a future of dangerous, inescapable psychotropic drug use…

It means that all the drinking, smoking, and other “bad habits” attributed mostly to the poor aren’t what’s causing higher mortality rates in that group. So those of us fortunate enough not to be in the lowest income bracket have been giving these things up for no reason.
