The Morass of Harassment, part 2
In the last Daily Dose, I took kind of the long way around (but with good reason) to introduce today’s content – an aspect of the sexual harassment issue that would be ridiculous if it weren’t so scary, and even scarier if it weren’t so ridiculous. Here it is:
A 5-YEAR-OLD KINDERGARTEN STUDENT in Washington County, Maryland is being formally accused of sexual harassment against a female classmate, a transgression that will be on his permanent record – at least until he moves to middle school.
His crime? Pinching her in the buttocks while they were cavorting in the hallway between classes
According to The Herald Mail online, school officials claim this simple act of mischief fits the Maryland State Department of Education’s legal definition for sexual harassment, which reads in part: “unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and/or inappropriate verbal, written or physical conduct of a sexual nature directed toward others.”
Now I’m no lawyer, but it seems perfectly plain to me that in order for any transgression to fit this description, the perpetrator AND the victim have to be capable of sexual intent. They have to know that their contact could be construed in a sexual nature. And in 5-year-olds, this just isn’t the case.
That’s why they play “doctor” with each other at this age up until puberty – because they DON’T understand that anything is “sexual.” That concept has no context to them. They’re just curious about the differences between boys and girls, not exploiting those differences for gratification. According to the Herald piece, the boy’s father couldn’t explain to his son what he’d done wrong. The kid just didn’t understand.
What kills me about this isn’t just the ridiculous PC bureaucratic crap that’s being used to overthrow – and redefine as criminal – perfectly normal childhood behavior, for purely political reasons. Either that, or left/pinko-controlled Maryland is the country’s leading breeding ground of pint-sized sexual criminals. According to the Herald Mail report, 28 Maryland kindergarten students were suspended in the 2005-2006 school year for sex offenses!
There’s another aspect to this that’s disturbing: At any point except NOW in American history, the “victim” here would grow up having no clue, feeling, or repressed memory that she’d ever been victimized – because she hasn’t.
Now, however, she’ll always know it. Her record will show it. Her teachers and parents will treat her like she’s been abused somehow. She’ll probably be forced to undergo counseling
And as a result of this “victim” status being forced down her throat by the fem/leftist political movement, she’ll probably feel like a victim her whole life. She also runs the risk of developing all the according neuroses that real victims of childhood sexual abuse commonly suffer – things like man-hating, low self-esteem, or perhaps even nymphomania as an adult.
How unfortunate it will be if this little girl – impressionable as she must be at this tender age – ultimately becomes brainwashed by the circus act she’s now the center of into believing she is a victim of a sex crime (as soon as she’s old enough to understand what that means, of course). And how utterly tragic it would be if she ends up as troubled as TRUE victims typically end up.
If this happens, the blood’s on the bureaucracy’s hands
How’s this for mind-boggling: This case isn’t even the most egregious such case on record. A 4-year-old pre-kindergartner in Texas was suspended this past November for hugging – sorry, “inappropriately touching” – a teacher’s aide in an uncertain or affectionate moment.
Isn’t it sad that we live in a world where our kids can’t touch each other or anyone without being made into criminals by our screwed up political system? Touching and physical contact are essential to childhood development
Yet we continue – via our votes and referenda – to allow government imbeciles to become MORE involved in raising our kids, rather than less.
So I ask you: Aren’t ALL kids the real victims here?
